How did we break into James Turrell's Roden Crater?

photos at the roden crater james turrell
We broke into James Turrell's Roden Crater after he forgot the keys, ensuring the 12 carloads of Quakers who had traveled to see his masterpiece could still experience it. The journey to the Roden Crater, an extinct volcanic crater transformed into incredible land art, was arduous, and upon arrival, James Turrell realized he had forgotten the keys. Rather than turn back, we found a way to enter, making for a memorable and unique visit for everyone present, including water-colorists, quilters, and poets from 'Quakers in the Arts.' This extraordinary event followed a day at Turrell’s ranch, filled with hay rides, a picnic, and silent worship, culminating in an unforgettable experience at the Roden Crater.
