Artists & AI: A Conversation on Thriving Without Losing Your Voice
AI is changing the creative landscape faster than most artists expected.
Some artists are excited.
Some are afraid.
Many are quietly wondering whether their work — or even their identity — still matters.
In this conversation with Jason Sikes, we explore what AI actually means for artists right now: creatively, professionally, and emotionally.
We discuss:
- The opportunities AI creates for artists
- The dangers of AI
- Why human perspective matters more than ever
- How artists can use AI without losing themselves
- The biggest mistake artists are making right now
The predicted growth in AI intelligence for this year is comparable to the evolutionary leap from a buzzard to a human being. This rapid advancement brings a sense of responsibility and sparks anger among many due to concerns about oversight and environmental costs. However, as AI cannot be reversed, the focus shifts to how humanity will adapt to this moment of enormous risk and possibility, a space artists are inherently familiar with.
AI functions as a mirror, reflecting the clarity, confusion, intentions, and tone of what we feed it, rather than possessing its own inherent values. This means the critical question is not whether AI will shape the future of art, but rather what kind of artists we choose to be in this moment, as our ethical and creative contributions will be reflected back by the technology. This responsibility for AI's reflection still belongs to us.
