Hello everyone,
I am wondering if anyone has a standard contract they use with charities? Or any suggestions on what basic set up to use? 50/50 split? Or is there any standard split between both parties? I want to approach charities and use certain paintings for fund raising/auction but I want to approach with some sort of strategy. And help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Brad,
It’s not standard to approach charities with a contract. They will give you a receipt for the work but it ends there. Some charities do give the artist a portion of the sale but not all. Not most, in fact.
I hope that helps.

Hello everyone,
I would like to share that I sold a painting the other day to a business client who will give it as a present to the Embassy of Finland. This is not very important but what I did was that together with the painting I attached a folder with the following info and photos in Bulgarian and English: Artists Statement, Information about my tree planting initiative, Information with values and functions of trees and forests, Certificate of Authenticity, Green certificate verifying that 30% of the sale price of the artwork goes for tree planting, 4 photos of the working process in my studio and a gift card.
The Marketing director who received it was very impressed 🙂
Here you can see some photos(not very good quality) of all the papers and info I did send: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-6zlSApIKhe0bDPa15C7lCnAS148UOUf
What do you think about it? I wonder if this is not too much…? Your thoughts very much appreciated!

Hello Tzvetomir,
I’ve checked the images you’ve shared and In my opinion you had a great idea. I believe it is very interesting for a buyer to better know the artist behind the piece he/she bought. And It opens a communication channel too! I usually send a letter to buyers that buy my art without knowing me in person.
We are artists, emotions are very important for us and communication too, plus the buyer is buying a piece of our soul. It feels right to let him/her know what’s behind it!
