    Artists + Money

    Artists and money.

We obsess about money. We want more of it.ArtistsandMoney

It’s not just artists, it’s our culture at large.

But the myth of the artist states that we’ll never have it. And a lot of us buy into that.

Why is money so difficult for creators to create?

Is it because money isn’t truly motivating for us?

Is it because deep inside, the values that motivate artists are different from a society that worships at the altar of cash?

Is it because we often mistake money as validation of talent?

Recently, I was having issues with money. I’m not ashamed to admit it, after all most people have money issues at some point.

But this is when I asked myself an important question: forgetting about what I felt I lacked, namely money, how did I want to feel?

In other words, I was painfully aware of my feelings of discomfort around money. But how would I feel if I didn’t have those feelings of lack?

How would I imagine myself feeling if there was plenty of money?

I came up with three words to describe how I would feel: Power, Grace and Freedom.

These were the feelings I wanted to experience. These were the feelings that I imagined money would bring me.

How would more money make you feel?

I started meditating on these feelings: POWER, GRACE and FREEDOM.

Soon, it became a practice that I looked forward to. And it would dramatically change my circumstances.

It worked so effortlessly, in fact, that I urge you to try it too.

POWER. Can you remember a time when you felt powerful? Take a second and connect with that.

Feel the POWER that lies within. From here, from this place of POWER, you can create anything.

From your place of lack, of fear around not having enough, it’s difficult to manifest or attract opportunities. This is why it’s so important to change your energy around money.

Take a few moments each day to connect with your inner POWER, no matter what your outer circumstances. Know that you are a POWERFUL creator.

GRACE is such a big word.

Imagine what it would look like to live your life gracefully – in the flow, grateful, manifesting support and opportunities easily – This is what it is to be in grace.

As an artist, GRACE is where your best work comes from.

    And FREEDOM?

I live a lot of my life out of a suitcase. Travel is in my blood, an important part of who I am.

So when I face money fears, I’m fearful of losing my FREEDOM.

And not just FREEDOM to travel, but I fear the narrowing of my choices, I fear the lack of FREEDOM.

But FREEDOM, like POWER and GRACE isn’t found in your bank account.

FREEDOM is found within, it’s in your soul.

No one can take the feeling of FREEDOM from you, and no amount of money can gift it to you.

FREEDOM is already yours, if you will own it.

    POWER. GRACE. FREEDOM.

Do these words resonate with you?

Choose the words that describe how you would feel if money were not an issue.

Then connect with these feelings as a part of your practice, and watch your world transform as you become truly rich.
